Do you remember the birthday parties from your childhood.

You know, those days children still could play outside in the street, without being afraid of traffic accidents. The days parents didn't need to warn for strangers, or worse.
Those were the days! Was is better back then? I don't know. Was it different? Sure it was.

We played together often, my friends and I. And because we were a rather large group of friends, we had a lot of birthdays to celebrate.
How glad we were when we got an invitation for some kid's birthday party. It was always something to look forward to.

One of the things we did during a birthday was

Snoephappen ---- Candy bobbing

Mom filled a tray with water and laid a few candies on the bottom. We had to "eat" the candy out of the water without using our hands. Had the first attempt failed, you had to try again, or again, or... Often we had to gasp for breath when our faces came out of the water and maybe still no candy.
